Trips to the US 2012
It's time to start planning our adventures for 2012.
While the 2011 riding season seems to want to continue (nice weather again this weekend!), it is time to start planning our adventures for 2012.
As participation in these events continues to grow, we’ve decided to increase the number of our travel options this year, adding Maggie Valley, North Carolina, and Redding, California to our regular visits to Ouray, Colorado. The general format of the trip will remain the same as always; everyone flies into a fantastic riding area, meets their bike there, rides around for a week or so, everyone flies home. There is no set agenda for what happens once we’re there. There is always a daily ride organized, which everyone is free to opt in or out of. Everyone is welcome to explore the area and its attractions independently, with a small group of riders, whatever your heart desires. The only requirement is that the bikes are back to the trailer in time for the trip home.
The general details for the 2012 trips are as follows:
| Location | Date | Bike Pickup/Drop Off | Pricing |
| Maggie Valley, NC | March 26-31 | Charlotte, NC | $850 |
| Ouray, CO | June 23-29 | Denver, CO | $1300 |
| Redding, CA | July 21-27 | Sacramento, CA | $1800 |
| Ouray, CO | August 25-31 | Denver, CO | $1300 |
| Redding, CA | Sept 29-Oct 5 | Sacramento, CA | $1800 |
The trip pricing includes return transport of your motorcycle and your accommodation while at the main location. For the western trips, Colorado in particular, it’s a good idea to arrive the evening prior, as it can make for a very long day to ride immediately after a long flight. This will cost an additional night in a hotel, but it’s much safer and more satisfying to ride when well-rested. The cost per rider drops when there are friends or couples who will share accommodation. We can also make arrangements for any riders who may want to take advantage of the bike transport only, and who will plan their own adventure in the area completely independent of the other participants.
It’s worth noting that these trips are open to all brands of motorcycles. While we promote these trips within the BMW Toronto Motorrad community, we all have friends who ride many different brands of motorcycles, and they’re all welcome to join in.
I’m sending this out to those of you who have joined in on these excursions in the past, as well as to those who’ve expressed an interest in joining us in the future. You’ll also see this information on the BMW Toronto Motorrad Facebook page, and in our newsletters. If you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to contact me directly by email (ben.swain@bmwtoronto.ca) or on my cell phone, 416.275.8676.
